Chris Vann has been hired as Southern Arkansas University's manager of Athletic Facilities & Events, effective immediately.

The official announcement came on Thursday morning from SAU Director of Athletics Steve Browning.

With the hiring of Vann, the department has now finalized its administrative staff for the upcoming 2019-2020 athletic year.

"We are excited to welcome Chris to the Mulerider family," said Browning. "Chris will do a great job directly working with our coaches, student-athletes, and fans in helping Mulerider Athletics continue to provide a family-friendly atmosphere at our home events."

A native of South Bend, IN, Vann comes to Southern Arkansas from NCAA Division II Maryville where he previously served as a graduate assistant for Club & Intramural Sports. While in St. Louis, Vann was responsible for all facets of game day operations including event staff scheduling, logistics, ticketing, concessions, crowd management, and coordination with officials, teams, and staff for all home NCAA sporting events.

Vann's involvement in the Saints' athletic department expanded to facility maintenance as well as game day promotions through the creation and implementation of digital signage and social media accounts.

Vann also served as an operations intern for the Ball State football program in the summer of 2016 which included daily operations in regards to recruiting and player personnel and the assisting of the coaching staff during practices, meetings, and day-to-day activities.

As part of a sales course in his undergrad program at BSU, Vann completed sales and product training, served as an account executive and maintained detailed records in the customer database management system for the Fort Wayne TinCaps; the Single-A Affiliate of the San Diego Padres.

That appointment as an intern with BSU came after Vann played three seasons for the Cardinal football program as a linebacker and on special teams. As a redshirt senior in 2015, Vann played in nine games for Ball State. Prior to joining the Cardinals, Vann played for two seasons at Sienna Heights University.

This past May, Vann received a master of arts in strategic communication and leadership from Maryville University. In August 2016, he graduated from Ball State University with a bachelor of science in sport administration with a minor in foundations of management.
