Magnolia Panthers

A community pep rally for the Magnolia Panthers football team will be held at 6 p.m. Thursday, August 22 at Panther Arena.

Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield will sponsor the “Pep Rally with a Purpose” Thursday, August 22 at Magnolia High School.

The rally is a lead-up to the Arkansas Blue Cross & Blue Shield Kickoff Classic at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, August 27 at Southern Arkansas University’s Wilkins Stadium.

The Magnolia Panthers will play the Warren Lumberjacks at that time, followed by the Prescott Curley Wolves and the Rison Wildcats at 7:30 p.m.

The two games are part of a two-day series of contests that inaugurate the start of the 2019 high school football season in Arkansas. On Monday, August 26 at Arkansas State University. Jonesboro Westside will play Greene County Tech at 5:30 p.m. with Valley View and Osceola following at 7:30 p.m.

The Pep Rally with a Purpose event is in three parts.

The Magnolia High football team, spirit groups, and band will first participate in a meal packing activity. Arkansas BC/BS will bring donated food items for the students to pack up into individual meals. The goal is to pack 20,000 meals in 90 minutes to benefit local food pantries.

Secondly, the student groups will be treated to a BBQ dinner in Panther Café. The dinner is scheduled to begin at 5 p.m.

The final part of the event will be a community pep rally held in Panther Arena. The pep rally will include opening remarks from Chad Hooten, a check presentation by Arkansas BC/BS, coaches’ remarks, and cheer team and band performances. The pep rally is scheduled to begin at 6 p.m. The community is encouraged come support all of the MHS student groups as they begin another school year.
