The Magnolia Panthers picked up their first Class 5A-South football game of the season Friday night, beating the Camden Fairview Cardinals, 7-6.

Magnolia improved to 1-2 in conference, 3-3 overall. Magnolia hosts the Hot Springs Trojans next Friday for Homecoming at Panther Stadium.

Magnolia took the lead with 14 seconds left in the half. Faced with fourth and 10 at the Camden Fairview 22, quarterback Braelyn Beasley threw a touchdown pass to Dewayne Thomas. Jay Todd Baker kicked the extra point.

Camden Fairview led early after a 50-yard touchdown pass but a two-point conversion attempt failed.
