Deer

Ten days into the start of the modern gun season, hunters in Columbia County have harvested a little more than half the number of deer they killed during the 2019-2020 season.

The Arkansas Game and Fish Commission reports that through Monday, Columbia County hunters had tagged 1,421 antlered deer, 97 button bucks and 977 does – a total of 2,495 animals.

Hunters bagged 4,193 deer in Columbia County last year. The harvest ranked 11th out of 75 Arkansas counties. Union County led the way with 6,245 deer.
