Darren Minor

Darren Minor has lost his job with a Fort Smith radio station due to a comment he made on Twitter.

An employee of Fort Smith country station KMAG 99.1 is out of a job after making a derogatory social media post toward a University of Arkansas women’s basketball player.

Darren Minor, who went by the stage name “Maverick” on the iHeartMedia family of radio stations that include KMAG, B98, and Big Dog 95.9, found his employment terminated Wednesday after replying to a Tweet from freshman Erynn Barnum that included a gallery of four photos in different poses from the floor of Bud Walton Arena.

Minor’s replay to her Tweet said, “Now they just need to install a pole.”

While other social media users responded in an uproar, Head Coach Mike Neighbors also took to Twitter, defending his player.
