Betty Callender Owen, 84, of Emerson passed away on July 5, 2019 at her home in Emerson.
She was born on April 5, 1935 in Junction City, Arkansas to the late Dennie Earl Callender and Nellie Lenora (Adams) Callender. She was a member of Brister Baptist Church and enjoyed being a homemaker, cooking, gardening, traveling, and spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband of 61 years, Curtis Morris Owen; infant granddaughter, Kailee Hall; and three sisters, Lenora Callender, Earline Smith, and Oneda Wood.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Connie and David Couch of Magnolia, Susan Owen of TEXarkana, Patty and Chris Hall of Springdale; four grandsons, Dennis and Michelle Caswell of Sheridan, Adam Shepherd and Dusty and Stephanie Shepherd of Emerson, Drew and Katie Anderson of TEXarkana; granddaughter, Chelsea Hall of Springdale; six great grandchildren, Carson Caswell and Landry Caswell of Sheridan, Terry Shepherd, Sydney Shepherd, and Ivie Jo Shepherd of Emerson, and Presley Anderson of Texarkana; and one sister, Artie Alford.
A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, July 8, 2019 at Emerson Presbyterian Cemetery with Dr. Eric Goble officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., in Magnolia.
Visitation with the family will be 4-6 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
