Obie Harper

Graveside services for Obie Harper Jr. will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Freehope Cemetery in Magnolia.

Obie Harper Jr., 71, of Magnolia passed away Monday, May 11, 2020 at Christus-St. Michael Health System in TEXarkana.

Mr. Harper was born December 27, 1948 in McNeil to Obie Harper Sr., and Thelma Flowers Harper. He was a member of St. Matthews Baptist Church, under the leadership of Pastor James Scott.

Mr. Harper was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Carrie Lee Moss, Dorothy Harper, Cora Williams and Thelma Harper; and three brothers, Ruben Harper, Johnny Ray Harper and Lee Otis Harper.

Treasured memories will remain with his wife, Mary A. Harper of Magnolia; two daughters, Obilean Harper of McNeil and Hazel Gilbert (Willie) of North Little Rock; two sons, Otis Ray Harper (Deloris), and Ricardo M. Thomas, all of Magnolia; two brothers, Charlie Harper of Houston and Oliver Lee Harper; a very special friend of many years, Mary A. Williams of McNeil; 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.

A graveside celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 23, 2020, at Freehope Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home.
