Deacon Jerome “Gee” Box, 63, of Magnolia passed away Sunday, May 26, 2019 at Willis-Knighton Health Center in Shreveport. He was born October 5, 1955 in Cale to Leslie Box and Benora Young Box.
Jerome was a graduate of Oak Grove High School in 1973. He was a hard worker of many jobs such as Firestone of Prescott, and Amfuel of Magnolia until his health began to fail him.
J-Box loved fishing and hunting. He looked forward to the season every year with his sons. Jerome joined Bethel AME Church of Rosston at an early age and remained a faithful member until later in life, being guided by the holy spirit, he joined Agape United Church of Rosston, where he served as deacon and Pastor Patrick Gulley’s right-hand man until his transition.
Jerome was preceded in death by his father, Leslie Box.
Jerome leaves to mourn his passing a loving and devoted wife, Patricia Watson Box. To this union one son was born, Je’Quayus R. Box of Waldo. He had three other sons from previous unions, Deljuan Box Sr. of Hope, Bernard Box of Rosston, and Shaun Haynie of Rosston; one daughter, Tameka Anthonette Box Hawthorne of Benton; 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren; two sisters, Ollie Marie (Randolph) Jackson of Prescott and Deborah Ann (Ivory) Roberts of Hope; two guardian sisters, Frances (Danny) Flowers and Nadine Quarles, both of Rosston; two brothers, Geoffrey Wayne Box of Rosston and Kelvin Box of Pine Bluff; two special friends, Minnie Faye Beasley of Texas and Billy Wayne Dismuke of Oklahoma City; and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends whom will miss him dearly.
A celebration of life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, June 1 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church in Willisville. Burial will follow at New Salem Cemetery in Rosston under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home LLC of Magnolia.
Officiating will be Rev. Patrick Gulley.
Visitation will be held noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, May 31 at the funeral home.
