Peggy Ann Keener, 66, of Magnolia, was born April 5, 1953 to Morris Keener and Darlene Gussie Mullins in Magnolia. She passed away Friday, June 22, 2019 at Magnolia Regional Medical Center.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Doris Jean Mullins Cooper; one brother, Odell Mullins; two aunts, Zettie Lee Gilbert and Mrs. Reversi Burks; two uncles, Harry and Winston Keener; and one grandson, Aaron Elija Caldwell.
During her life, she was a devoted mother and a hard worker who loved the Lord. She enjoyed shopping. She also took great enjoyment with children which she loved dearly. She was a 1972 graduate of Magnolia High School. She was a dietary aide, housekeeping, and CNA. She was a past employee of Brookhaven Nursing Facility in Muskegon, MI. At an early age she joined Unity A.M.E. Church in the Free Hope Community, later attended Austin Temple C.O.G.I.C. and most recently attended First Baptist Church of Calhoun Heights in Magnolia.
She leaves beautiful memories with Mashon (Elvis) Scott and Katiya Jones of Magnolia, Tereska (Oliver) Sears of Los Angeles CA, and Tameka (Curley) White of Winnsboro, LA; one granddaughter Ashley (Reco) Hicks of Arlington, TX; two grandsons, Khalin Collins of Magnolia and Terence Scott of Los Angeles; one great-grandson, Ashton Hicks of Arlington, TX, and a special friend, Alvin Jones. She adored Kaleece Crockett.
She leaves three sisters, Elizabeth Mullins and Rose Mary Williams of Magnolia and Lois (Robert) Smart of Houston; one brother, Charles Jackson of Houston; two aunts, Mary Louise Nelson and Queen Ester Weaver of Magnolia; and a host of nieces and nephews and other relatives and friends.
A celebration of life will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, July 7 at First Baptist Church of Calhoun Heights in Magnolia with burial to follow at 23rd Psalms Cemetery in Magnolia under the direction of R.L. Reed Funeral Home LLC.
Officiating will be Rev. Billy Williams.
Visitation will be held noon to 4:30 p.m. Friday, July 5 at the funeral home.
