Howard Copeland, 79, of Waldo passed away Tuesday, March 24, 2020 at the Wadley Regional Medical Center in TEXarkana.
Howard was born September 24, 1940 in Ruston, LA to the late David and Gertrude (Butcher) Copeland. He retired from the United States Army as a sergeant first class after 22 years of service. He served as mayor of Waldo for two years, and was the water superintendent of Waldo for 23 years.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters, Shirley Bailey, Daveline Childers and Barbara Walthall.
Howard is survived by his wife, Pecola Copeland of Waldo; daughter, Ann Copeland and husband Miguel Gomez of Miramar, FL; son, Randy Copeland and wife Dee of Waldo; and sister, Joan Young of Bryant.
Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Thursday, March 26, 2020 at the Shiloh Cemetery with Bro. Larry Linam officiating under the direction of Lewis Funeral Home, Inc., in Magnolia.
Family and friends are welcome to come view and sign the register book from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at Lewis Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Scott McDonald, Buddy Watkins, Andy Jackson, A.J. Erwin, Brian Edington and Kenneth Young.
Memorial donations may be made to the Shiloh Baptist Church or to the American Cancer Society.
