Dechia Detori'a McGraw died Tuesday, June 4, 2019 at Community Compassion Center in Magnolia.
She was born October 5, 1959 in Magnolia to Billye Ann Johnson-Thomas, who preceded her in death. Dechia was fortunate enough to have two mothers and at a young age she went to live with Will and Mattie Anderson who loved and raised her as their own. They also preceded her in death.
Dechia leaves to cherish her memory one son, LaFredrick Smith (Billie); three grandchildren, Amaiyha, Jamaiyla and Kylissa; four sisters, Amaryllis Gillis of Oklahoma City, Ok., Kathy Tyler (Lee) of Mesquite, TX, Joyce Hardman of Richardson, TX and Phyliss Thomas of Mesquite, TX; two brothers, Kenny Johnson (Tina) of Flowood, MS, and James Thomas Jr. (Mellissa) of Sherwood. She also leaves to mourn a host of aunts, uncles, and friends.
Dechia professed her faith in Christ at an early age and was a gifted singer. As an adult she attended St. Mark’s Baptist Church faithfully until her health begin to fail. Dechia loved God, her family and friends. She loved being a granny and her grand kids were the light of her life held a special place in her heart.
Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at St. Mark’s Baptist Church in Magnolia.
The Rev. Adkins will be the clergyman.
