Gloria Dean Johnson, 62, of Magnolia passed away October 4, 2019 at Cottage Lane Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Little Rock following a lengthy illness.
She was born on April 5, 1957 to the late Hardy Johnson and Catherine Johnson.
Gloria graduated from Magnolia High School in 1975. Gloria then continued her education by obtaining a nursing degree from Oil Belt Vocational School. As a licensed practical nurse, Gloria worked passionately at Magnolia Hospital and Meadowbrook Nursing Home for many years until her health failed.
Gloria was a hard-working mother and encouraged her children to pursue education and make a positive impact in life. She also enjoyed reading motivational texts and listening to Joyce Meyer and Yuanita Bynum. She also enjoyed talking with people and laughing with her friends.
She was preceded in death by her father, Hardy Johnson; maternal grandparents, Govner and Oletha Berry; her eldest brother, Eddie B. Johnson; and uncle, Houston Berry.
Gloria leaves to cherish her memories and encouragements to her mother, Catherine Johnson; three children, Kelli Dempsey-Dockery, Stacey Johnson and Jerod Johnson; grandchildren, Malik Dockery and Anaiyah Norris; brothers, Fred Johnson (Sarah) and Farris Johnson Sr.; aunt, Earnestine Armstrong; sister-in-law, Willa Johnson; very best friend, Linda Keener-Easter; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Friday, October 11, 2019 at Marks Funeral Home Chapel in Magnolia.
Clergy will be Minister Dr. Margaret Pace.
Services are under the direction of Marks Funeral Home, Inc., in Magnolia.
