Fatal accident

J.D. Armstrong of Junction City was killed in a Monday morning wreck on Arkansas 15 at the Three Creeks community.

A collision on Arkansas 15 in the Three Creeks community of Union County killed a Junction City man on Monday morning.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, J.D. Armstrong, 77, of Junction City was traveling north on Arkansas 15 in a 2011 model Ford F-150. His truck was struck in the rear by a 1991 model Mack truck, also northbound on the state highway.

Both vehicles left the roadway and came to rest on the southbound roadside.

Armstrong was taken to the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado, where he died.

The driver of the Mack truck was not injured and was not identified in the report.

Trooper 1st Class John Parker investigated the accident for the State Police.

The wreck happened about 10:16 a.m. The weather was clear and the road was dry.

The fatality was the fourth in Union County this year either happening in Junction City, or involving a Junction City resident. There have been nine fatal wrecks in Union County during 2019.
