Bids were opened Wednesday by the Arkansas Highway Commission for two South Arkansas projects, including a portion of the U.S. 82 widening project in Union County.
D&J Construction of West Monroe, LA, was the apparent low bidder for the project to widen U.S. 82 from U.S. 82B on the west side of El Dorado, to the entrance of the South Arkansas Regional Airport. The bid was $33,475,854.25.
Other bidders were McGeorge Contracting of Pine Bluff, $36,015,763.57, and J.B. James Construction of Baton Rouge, LA, $39,180,779.64.
Two bids were received for new structures and approaches over Mill and Bodcau creeks in Lafayette and Miller counties.
The low bidder was Manhattan Road & Bridge Co. of Tulsa, OK, $9,999,976. The other bidder was J.B. James Construction, $12,254,741.48.
