A female Texarkana, Texas solider has been killed in Afghanistan.
The Department of Defense said that Sgt. Zainah C. Creamer, 28, died Wednesday, Jan. 12, in Kandahar province of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked her unit with an improvised explosive device.
She was assigned to the 212th Military Police Detachment, Headquaters Battalion, Fort Belvoir, Va.
The office of U.S. Rep. Mike Ross said that Sgt. Creamer's mother resides in the Republic of the Philippines and her aunt resides in Lewisville, Ark.
Ross issued the following statement:
"America lost another truly great hero when Sergeant Zainah Creamer died in the line of duty. We are eternally grateful for her selfless sacrifice and bravery in serving this nation and she will be deeply missed. My thoughts and prayers go out to her mother, aunt and the rest of her family and friends during this very
difficult time. Sgt. Creamer's passing is another reminder of what our men and women in uniform risk when they step up to answer the call of duty and that we should constantly thank our troops for their service to this great country."
