Jeff Lindley, associate administration for Operations for the Federal Highway Administration, will be the keynote speaker for Thursday’s meeting of the Arkansas Interstate 69 Coalition.
The meeting will start at 1 p.m. in the Delta Conference Center of the Delta Resort and Spa in McGehee.

The Interstate 69 proposal calls for the highway to pass through several South Arkansas counties, including Columbia and Union, before entering Louisiana near Haynesville.
Lindley will present information regarding the new Federal Transportation Act and the opportunities available for the construction of Interstate 69 under the provisions of the act.
Also on the program are Arkansas State Rep. Lane Jean of Magnolia, chairman of the Interstate 69 Legislative Caucus; Mike Preston, executive director of the Arkansas Economic Development Commission; Chris Masingill, federal co-chair of the Delta Regional Authority; Gene Higginbotham, executive director of the Arkansas Waterways Commission; and commissioners and staffs from the departments of transportation from the states of Arkansas, Mississippi, Louisiana and Tennessee.
Additional comments will come from Bossier City Mayor Lo Walker, president of the Interstate 69 Mid-Continent Highway Coalition; and Scott Bennett, director of the Arkansas Highway and Transportation Department and chair of the eight-state Interstate 69 Steering Committee.
There will also be comments from others about the potential benefits for improved freight safety and efficiency, and for economic benefits to the Delta region.
