COVID

COVID-19 infection information for 21 South Arkansas and eight Northeast Texas counties, and eight North Louisiana parishes, from respective state health departments. The following figures for COVID-19 virus cases are current through 6 p.m. Saturday.

On Saturday – with one exception – most of the 21 South Arkansas counties monitored by magnoliareporter.com reported more new COVID cases than the number of recoveries on the same day. Columbia County was up seven new cases balanced by only one recovery. In Miller County, there were 14 new cases against seven recoveries.

There was no immediate explanation for six new deaths in Little River County. However, the death count for neighboring Sevier County was lowered by three, indicating a possible shift in the actual home addresses of the victims.

The figures for seven selected Arkansas counties closest to Columbia County include the number of tests per 1,000 individuals, the PCR percent positive rate, and the antigen percent positive rate. PCR test results usually take a day or more to be reported to individuals. Antigen test results are instant and percentage of positive rates are much higher. This is because people referred for antigen tests through local health units have already shown signs of infection.
