A Vietnamese youth was killed and four other people were injured about 6:14 p.m. Sunday in a single-vehicle wreck on Interstate 30 south of Hope in Hempstead County.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, the male minor, who was not identified in the report, was a passenger in a 2013 model BMW X5 that was eastbound on I-30.

The vehicle left the north side of the roadway and struck a tree. The youth died at the scene.

The vehicle’s driver was not identified in the report.

Listed as injured were four passengers, Suong Nguyen, 27, and Huy Nguyen, 37, both of Vietnam, and Kiem Nguyen, 50, and Quan Tran, 25, both of Hot Springs.

The injured were taken Wadley Medical Center and Christus-St. Michael Medical Center in Texarkana.

Rain was falling and the road was wet when the accident occurred.
