Virus

COVID-19 infection information for 21 South Arkansas and seven Northeast Texas counties, and eight North Louisiana parishes, from respective state health departments. The following figures for COVID-19 virus cases are current through 6 p.m. Monday.

Today’s report reflects changes that the Arkansas Department of Health has made in how it reports COVID-19 figures to the press and general public. magnoliareporter.com is changing some of the information it reports.

We are dropping the number of cumulative tests conducted by county in favor of presenting percentages of infected individuals as determined by PCR or antigen tests. The figures for seven selected Arkansas counties will include the number of tests per 1,000 individuals, the PCR percent positive rate, and the antigen percent positive rate. PCR test results usually take a day or more to be reported to individuals. Antigen test results are instant and percentage of positive rates are much higher. This is because people referred for antigen tests through local health units have already shown signs of infection.

Arkansas figures are from the Arkansas Department of Health website. ADH has a call center to answer questions from health care providers and the public about the novel coronavirus.
