A Hot Springs woman died about 8:37 a.m. Saturday in a one-vehicle wreck at Umpire in Howard County.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, Shane House, 30, of New Hope was driving a 2000 model Chevrolet Tahoe west on Arkansas 84. The truck failed to stop at the highway’s intersection with U.S. 278 and struck an embankment.

One passenger, Soundra Rivers, 39, of Hot Springs, was killed. Another passenger, Michael Hunt, 42, of Little Rock, was injured.

The injured were taken to Howard Memorial Hospital in Nashville.

The weather was cloudy and the roadway was wet.
