Fleeing felon

Cleophus Ross was driving the car that hit a Texarkana apartment building.

A TEXarkana man is in jail after crashing into a woman’s bedroom early Friday while fleeing from police.

TEXarkana attempted to stop a vehicle near River Crossing Apartments for suspected criminal mischief when the driver fled from officers.

The driver ended up crashing into the bedroom of a home in the 100 block of East 19th Street. The resident was in the bed at the time but did not suffer from any major injuries. The resident was taken to a local hospital by private vehicle where they were later released.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Friday.

Cleophus Ross was taken into custody by TEXarkana officers after fleeing a short distance on foot from the crash scene.
