One South Carolina resident was killed and four people were hurt Wednesday afternoon in a wreck on U.S. 165 south of Bastrop in Morehouse Parish, Louisiana.
The two-vehicle accident happened at 3:39 p.m.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a 2006 Dodge Charger, driven by Fredin Sanchez, 20, of Greenville, SC, was traveling south on U.S. 165 when it lost control and started to spin in a clockwise direction. The Charger entered the northbound side of U.S. 165 and was struck by a 2011 Hyundai Santa Fe, driven by Carolyn Morrison, 60, of Bastrop.
Sanchez suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by the Morehouse Parish Coroner’s Office. The only passenger in the Charger, Geyner Ramirez, 23, of Greenville, SC, suffered serious injuries and was transported to a hospital in Shreveport. Morrison suffered moderate injuries and was transported to a hospital in Monroe. The two passengers in the Hyundai, Shelia Rallinson, 61, of Bastrop and Bonnie Gilley, 61, of Bastrop, suffered moderate injuries and were transported to a hospital in Monroe.
