TexARKana has officially opened its new entertainment district where outdoor consumption of alcoholic beverages is allowed.

The ordinance establishing an entertainment district in downtown TexARKana has gone into effect.

The 14-block zone will allow adults to consume adult beverages out-of-doors in approved containers as long as the drinks are purchased from establishments within the entertainment district, excluding the Rock House liquor store.

Signage is posted with hours of operation at the corners of the district with a green stripe on the road to distinguish the boundary.

Local entrepreneur David Peavy said, “The entertainment district will reinvent the downtown into a true Arts and Entertainment destination for locals and visitors. The transformation of our city has begun.”
