Family members found on Monday morning the body of Reuben L. Madison, 33, of TEXarkana inside a vehicle that ran into McKinney Bayou on U.S. 82 east of TexARKana.
According to an Arkansas State Police report, Madison was driving a 2006 model Jeep Cherokee west on U.S. 82 about 4 a.m. Sunday when the vehicle left the roadway and became submerged in McKinney Bayou.
Rain was falling and the road was wet at the time of the wreck.
Family members on Sunday asked people to be on the lookout for Madison and his vehicle along U.S. 82 between Magnolia and TEXarkana.
Family members started their own search and found the vehicle about 8 a.m. Monday, submerged in McKinney Bayou about 13 miles east of Texarkana.
The bayou runs north and south at the base of a large hill in Miller County. There have been instances through the years when vehicles have run down steep embankments on the bayou’s bridge approaches and not been noticed or discovered immediately.
The vehicle was removed, and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Cpl. Glendon Flowers investigated the accident for the Arkansas State Police.
According to Mr. Madison’s Facebook page, he was a graduate of Lafayette County High School and was employed by Amfuel of Magnolia. He was the husband of Crystal Madison.
