Two people have been arrested in connection with Friday’s slaying of a Dermott man.
Mario Milton, 27, and Alicia King, 24, both of Dermott, were arrested by special agents of the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division, assisted by Dermott police.
Milton is charged with battery and first-degree murder. King is charged with hindering apprehension or prosecution.
Both were jailed in Chicot County and will have their first appearance hearing on Monday.
Dermott police went to a residence at 925 Skipper Bridge Road late Thursday because of a disturbance between Johnny Hayes, 49, and another person.
Police returned to the scene 45 minutes later after a shooting report.
When they responded a second time, Carolyn Hayes, 64, the mother of Johnny Hayes, was walking through the yard of the home, wounded. Johnny Hayes was laying in the yard. He was unresponsive. He died later at an area hospital.
