A collision involving four vehicles on U.S. 167 north of Fordyce on Saturday morning killed one driver and injured two others.
According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, the accident happened about 9:10 a.m. near the Garner Cemetery on the highway in Cleveland County, about 11 miles north of Fordyce.
The report said that a southbound Ford pick-up, driven by John Vonneumann, 47, of Benton, crossed the center line and sideswiped a northbound Mercedes, driven by Jimmy Snowden, 63, of Fordyce. Vonneumann's truck then struck head-on a northbound Dodge van, driven by Mary Lee, 65, of Benton.
Lee died at Dallas County Medical Centerl in Fordyce.
Another northbound vehicle, a Nissan Sentra driven by Latia Davis, swerved to avoid colliding with the vehicles in front of her and ran off the right side of the highway. Davis was not hurt.
The injured were also taken to Dallas County Medical Center.
The weather was clear and the road was dry. Trooper Richard Whitley investigated the accident.
