One new oil well drilling permit issued in South Arkansas last week

Drilling activity in South Arkansas was scant last week, according to the Arkansas Oil and Gas Commission.

Four R Operating Company of Smackover is the operator and Superior Well Drilling is the contractor for the Horn No. 5, 2,285 feet FNL and 372 feet FWL of Section 24-15S-19W in the Wesson Field of Ouachita County. Permit depth is to 2,000 feet in the Nacatoch Zone. Work will start as soon as possible.

Arrowhead Operating of Monroe, La., has plugged and abandoned the Gaines No. 3, 2,085 feet FNL and 1,001 feet FWL of Section 26-16S-24W in the Kress City Field of Lafayette County. The dry hole was drilled to 5,700 feet and plugged on Oct. 25.
