A Camden truck driver was killed and two other people were hurt about 10:06 a.m. Wednesday in a collision at the intersection of Arkansas 9 and Arkansas 273, west of Fordyce in Dallas County.

According to a preliminary Arkansas State Police report, the trucker, Rudolph S. Jeffus, 77, was driving a 2006 model Peterbilt south on Arkansas 9.

The driver of a second vehicle, Sierra L. Beets, 26, of Bearden, westbound in a 2019 model Chevrolet, failed to obey a stop sign on Arkansas 273. The truck struck the Beets car in the rear and then collided with a tree. Both vehicles came to rest in the southbound ditch of Arkansas 9.

Beets and a minor female were injured and taken to Ouachita Medical Center in Camden. Jeffus died at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences in Little Rock.

The weather was clear and the road was dry.

Trooper Tre’Vaughn Moore investigated the accident.
