About 35 percent of readers prefer North Jackson Street in Magnolia in its current two-lane plus turn lane configuration.

Readers don’t like the two-year-old conversion of North Jackson Street between Columbia Street and Southern Arkansas University to two driving lanes with a continuous turn lane.

The revised street configuration also includes bicycle lanes.

Starting last Sunday, we invited readers to select one of three answers to the following question:

“What do you think about the conversion of North Jackson from four lanes to two lanes with a turning lane and bicycle lanes?”

The results:

I do not like the change, 164 votes, 64.82 percent.

I think the turning lane has improved safety and slowed traffic speeds, 54 votes, 21.34 percent.

I like the change, 35 votes, 13.83 percent.

Total votes: 253.
