R.A. Wilson Enterprises of Hot Springs has announced that it is buying several former Fred’s locations, including 16 corporate-owned stores in Arkansas. R.A. Wilson Enterprises in a major developer of Tractor Supply Company stores. This is not likely to affect Magnolia, as the Magnolia location was leased by Fred’s from the building’s owner and was not a stand-alone location. While we would not discourage Tractor Supply from taking a look at Magnolia, it seems to us that this is a market segment that is already well served.
Last week’s stunning news about the arrests of two Henderson State University professors is the latest in a string of blows to the Arkadelphia campus. The professors are accused of using Henderson lab facilities for the manufacture of methamphetamine. Bad publicity from something like that is hard to live down.
