It got “re-Tweeted” so we threw out the additional comment that we were going to be really disappointed if further processing of any Union County-produced lithium does not take place in South Arkansas. Contractors for Phase II of the U.S. 82 widening project in Columbia County are wasting no time. Right-of-way is being cleared along the highway, from the U.S. 371 intersection to the PotlatchDeltic mill.

We’ve noticed people kicking around the closed Los Maguelles Mexican Grill, in the former Chatterbox location at 117 E. Main. Maybe something’s about to happen.

It’s been a while since we’ve seen marble-size hail. It pelted Magnolia last night. We weren’t there to see it personally but can only imagine the spectacle of the baseball-size hail that beat up a mobile home park east of Magnolia a couple of decades ago. There are people who are seemingly oblivious as to what’s going on around them. For example, if the president came town – pretty big news anywhere – we guarantee from our decades in the news business that you’d run into plenty of people before, during and after the event who had no clue about it. So, we thought we’d test that theory with our new poll question. There are four answer options but it comes down to this: Do you know of anyone who hasn’t heard about the COVID-19 outbreak? We promise you that there are people wandering the streets of Magnolia today who wonder what the masks are about.
