Noticed some landscaping work. The space between Waller Investments and the former dental office on North Jackson Street across from Peoples Bank was cleared of some trees and bushes over the weekend, leaving a few bushes and a couple of trees from which the lower branches were cut. The vegetation along the south side of the U.S. Post Office was also removed. Vine Street Liquor is putting in new stone around its building.

We reported SAU’s 2019 football schedule on Monday, which features six home games and five road games. We didn’t mention the possibility that one of the home games may get morphed into the annual Murphy USA Classic, played annually at El Dorado’s Memorial Stadium. The stadium’s owners are wrapping up several improvements to the stadium, including a new pressbox. We’ve made no secret of our general grumpiness about the Muleriders playing home games at El Dorado, due primarily to the stadium’s inadequacies for NCAA Division II football. Perhaps the stadium will have an opportunity to impress us.
Magnolia will open its 2019 football season playing at – Southern Arkansas University. More later.
