Dallas Police are investigating the shooting death of a former Waldo resident.

A former Waldo resident died Sunday in Dallas after he was shot several times at an intersection on the city’s east side.

Willie Earl Wright Jr. died about 10:36 p.m. at a Dallas hospital. No arrest has been made.

Dallas police said that at 5:06 p.m. Friday, officers responded to 3200 N. Buckner Boulevard regarding a shooting. They found a white-colored Mercury Grand Marquis, with several bullet holes, stationary in the northbound lanes on North Buckner.

Wright, 28, was sitting in the driver’s seat. He was unresponsive and had suffered multiple gunshot wounds.

Dallas Fire-Rescue transported Wright to a hospital where he remained on life support until he died.

The case was originally classified as an aggravated assault but has now been listed as a homicide.
