Gunfire broke out early Sunday during a large party in the 1000 block of West Monroe Street in Magnolia.
Four people were shot and one of them suffered serious injuries, Magnolia Police Chief Todd Dew said.
Columbia County Central Dispatch sent Magnolia police to the scene in reference to a “shots fired” call at 1:02 a.m.
Dew said about 300 or more people were present at a party that began around midnight.
“Multiple shots were reported fired in the mid-section and on the west end of West Monroe Street. Officers arrived and found four persons were hit by gunfire. They were transported to Magnolia Regional Medical Center for treatment of their wounds,” Dew said.
None of the wounds was fatal but Dew described one of the injuries as serious.
