Two crashes around 2 a.m. Saturday, August 10 near Fulton in Miller County resulted in the deaths of three family members from Houston, TX.
Charlotte Webb, 52, Lumvouris Webb, 43, and an eight-year-old boy were traveling east on I-30 when they had to come to a stop due to a tractor-trailer that wrecked and overturned, blocking traffic near the 18-mile marker. While traffic was stopped, a FedEx Peterbilt driven by Johnathan Woodell apparently failed to stop and crashed into the Webb’s Kia Sorento causing it to catch fire and forcing it into a Chevy Malibu driven by Edna Martinez of Prescott. Martinez’s Malibu also caught fire in the crash.
According to Corporal John Talley with the Arkansas State Police, who investigated the crash, the Webb’s small SUV was apparently engulfed in flames immediately upon impact. All three were pronounced dead on scene by Miller County Coroner Eddie Hawkins. The Webb’s bodies are being held at the Arkansas State Crime Lab.
