A man with ties to Magnolia was shot and killed Thursday afternoon in TEXarkana.
TEXarkana Police rushed to Rosehill Ridge Apartments at 4:15 p.m. in response to a shooting.
Eric Gentry, 35, of TexARKana, died at the scene after being shot multiple times by Kavante Wright, 26, of TEXarkana, inside an apartment.
Officers arrested Wright at the scene a few minutes later without incident.
When police arrived, they were met by a woman outside an apartment, who told them that a relative had been shot and was still inside the apartment with the suspect. She also said that there were children inside the apartment.
Officers were eventually able to make entry into the apartment after Wright surrendered to them at the back door.
Gentry was lying on the kitchen floor and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Police immediately began lifesaving measures, but Gentry was pronounced dead at the scene a few minutes later.
Wright was interviewed by police and later charged with murder. No bond has been set. He was booked into the Bi-State Jail.
TEXarkana Police said Wright was also arrested for two outstanding misdemeanor warrants for probation violations.
Funeral arrangements for Gentry will be announced by Reed Funeral Home of Magnolia.
