Jill McClinton, executive vice president and chief operations officer, will retire from Peoples Bank effective November 22, according to Mary Fowler, CEO.
Fowler said McClinton helped navigate the bank through regulation and system changes while maintaining operating efficiency.
“As a member of the Board of Directors, she has been a consistent source of strength and her expertise has proven
to be indispensable to the overall success of our organization. She leaves behind big shoes to fill, but true to her nature, she has long been preparing her team for this transition. Although it's never easy to say good-bye to a mentor or friend, we are happy for her as she enters this new and exciting phase of her life," said Fowler.
McClinton's 43-year career started in July 1976 and includes stints as a proof operator, teller and cashier before joining the management team.
She is a native of Magnolia and completed the ABA Basic Banking School, ABA Lending School and ABA Management School.
Her community involvement includes Relay For Life, Magnolia
Blossom Festival publicity chairman, Magnolia Blossom Festival assistant treasurer and treasurer, and the Pilot Club.
Jill is married to Charlie McClinton and they are members of Calvary Baptist Church.
The couple has three children, Todd Jackson, Amanda Downs and Roger McClinton; three grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She looks forward to working in interior and landscape design.
"I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked for this organization for the past 43 years and 5 months. Harold Fincher and Richard Clark took a chance in hiring an 18-year-old with no banking experience, just a desire to have a good job," said McClinton.
"I have always been proud to be a banker. This position has held the responsibility of loyalty and dedication that I took pride in. I hope the bank continues to enjoy great success, both professionally and financially."
A reception honoring Jill McClinton upon her retirement will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, November 22 in the bank's Harold Fincher Operations Center at 500 North Jackson in Magnolia. The public is invited.
