Magnolia Downtown Merchants have made plans for several events at businesses on or near the Magnolia Square for Thursday and Saturday.

Children are invited to write letters to Santa Claus and deposit them at the North Pole Express box between Jennifer’s and Story’s on the Square. Santa Claus will respond to the letters.

A “Jingle and Mingle” will be at participating stores from 5-8 p.m. Thursday. Stores will be open for later shopping hours.

Merchants on the southwest side of the Magnolia Square plan “A Very Grinchmas Block Party” from 5-7 p.m. Thursday.

The schedule:

5 p.m. Hot chocolate and green treats at the Southern Roots table.

5-7 p.m. Candid photos with the Grinch and his favorite elf at 2C Customs Framing and Crafty Creations.

6 p.m. Ugly Sweater Contest at Rockin K. The winner will receive a $25 gift certificate.

6:30 p.m. Storytime with the Grinch at Java Primo.

Random prizes will be awarded every 30 minutes.

Magnolia Downtown Merchants have announced a “Secret Santa” program at participating stores on the Magnolia Square between the hours of 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Secret Santa will hand out gift cards of $25 or more from participating stores.

Customers should be on the lookout for “Santa Shops Here” signs at participating stores.
