Fatal wreck

One man died after his truck wrecked on the Bodcaw Creek Bridge on Arkansas 160 in Lafayette County.

A Paragould man who was a former resident of Taylor apparently drowned early Monday as the result of a wreck on Arkansas 160 at the Bodcaw Creek Bridge in southern Lafayette County.

The body of Sam Sessions, 21, was located about 1:30 p.m.

The Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement that officers were notified about 12:45 a.m. Monday of a motor vehicle accident on the bridge. Deputies could see a truck in the creek that had an impact with the bridge. After the truck was removed from the creek, a search conducted in the area for the driver.

Deputies and volunteers recovered Sessions’ body on Monday afternoon about 30 yards from where the truck entered the creek.

Lafayette County Sheriff Obie Sims thanked the Lake Erling Fire Department, Walker Creek Fire Department, Arkansas Game & Fish, Bossier Parish Dive Team and the Lafayette County Dive Team for their assistance during the search and recovery.
