State Representative David Fielding has announced his candidacy for re-election to the Arkansas House of Representatives, District 5.
The district includes parts of Columbia, Ouachita, Nevada and Lafayette counties.
"Together, we will continue to do good things. We still need intensive emphasis on economic development and jobs in south Arkansas. Our public schools and higher education need continued funding so that our teachers have the best resources to educate our children," he said.
Rep. Fielding supported the governor’s recommendation to increase teacher pay and will continue to support an increase in teachers’ pay.
He carried Camden Expedition Scenic Highway Bill 1414, which is now Act 292, to increase tourism and economic development in southwest Arkansas.
"I am honored to serve all people of District 5. My service has been on the House of Representatives’ City, County and Local Affairs Committees, as well as a member of the Public Transportation, Rail Subcommittee, and House co-chair of the Arkansas Legislative Council’s Charitable, Penal and Correctional Institutions. This has afforded me the opportunity to represent you in crucial decisions affecting our part of the state," said Rep. Fielding.
Rep. Fielding pledges to continue working with state, county, and city officials on economic development. He feels that good-paying jobs are essential to maintaining quality of life and will to do everything to support these efforts.
"Our public schools, as well as Southern Arkansas University-Magnolia and SAU Tech in Camden, are outstanding examples of institutions preparing our workforce," said Rep. Fielding.
Rep. Fielding is a husband, father of two sons and an active member of Union A.M.E Church of Mount Holly.
