Arkansas Adult Education centers across the state will participate in the third annual Arkansas' Adult Education Open House from 10:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday, September 19.
Adult Education (Adult Ed), a section of the Division of Workforce Services in the Department of Commerce, and its network of nearly 40 centers will showcase options to help Arkansans get job-ready.
SAU Tech operates Adult Education centers in the Magnolia Business Park, 104 Harvey Couch Boulevard; and at 237 Jackson Street in Camden. South Arkansas Community College also operates a center at 3696 East Main Road in El Dorado.
Current and former students will highlight how they've benefited from the free programs, and teachers will provide details about each of Adult Ed's programs including:
-- Integrated Education and Training, which allows students to earn job industry certifications or credentials while improving their basic academic skills.
-- Acquiring an Arkansas High School diploma through GED preparation.
-- English Language Acquisition (ELA).
-- Workforce Alliance for Growth in the Economy (WAGE).
Barbara Hamilton, director of SAU Tech Adult Education Centers, said, "Once you enter our center it is a second chance to move forward with your life goals. We provide free services to assist student to accomplish their education and or employment goals. Taking that first step toward accomplishing your goal can start with SAU Tech Adult Education Centers."
