Patrick O’Neal Jefferson will be the guest speaker for the 2019 NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet in Magnolia.
The banquet is sponsored by the Columbia County Branch of the NAACP at 6 p.m. Saturday. It will be held in the Southview Church Activity Building, 234 Fairview.

Jefferson, from Arcadia, LA, was the first African-American to serve as town attorney for Arcadia and Simsboro, LA. In October 2011, Jefferson was elected to the Louisiana House of Representatives and represents District 11 which includes Claiborne Parish and parts of Lincoln and Bienville parishes. He has served as vice chair of the House Education committee and was a member of the Civil Law & Procedure and Judiciary Committees. He is an executive board member for the Louisiana Legislative Black Caucus and serves as chaplain.
Jefferson was appointed by the Speaker of the House of Representatives to serve on the Commission of Civic Education and in 2015, he was named an Early Learning Fellow by the National Conference of State Legislatures. Also in 2015, Jefferson was elected without opposition for a second term as State Representative for District 11 and he serves as the chair for the Labor and Industrial Relations Committee and is a member of the Commerce Committee. He was also appointed to the Board of Directors for the LWCC by the Speaker of the House.
Jefferson is chairman on the Deacon’s Ministry at the Holland Grove Baptist Church in Arcadia, the husband of Stephanie Hamilton and the father of two daughters, Erin and Krystal. He is a life member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., a member of the NAACP, and vice president of the Rogers C. & Lafaye Jackson Scholarship Foundation.
