Peanut butter

A local group is collecting peanut butter and crackers as a snack for Columbia County's needy children for the Christmas holiday.

The annual campaign to collect peanut butter and crackers for Magnolia-area school children continues into the Christmas season.

The office staff of the Charles Trexler State Farm Agency, 1909 N. Jackson, coordinates the effort to provide the nutritious snack for children who often go hungry when they do not have access to meals at schools during holiday breaks.

They collected enough peanut butter and crackers for distribution to 49 children during the Thanksgiving break. Their goal is to have more than 200 jars of peanut butter, and 200 boxes of crackers for the Christmas break.

The deadline is Tuesday, December 17.

Donations may be taken to the Trexler agency during business hours.
