The Columbia County Animal Protection Society has issued an appeal for all kinds of dog and cat food.

The Columbia County Animal Protection Society has issued an urgent appeal for dog and cat food.

CCAPS posted a notice Monday on its Facebook page that as of Tuesday, it expected to be completely out of dog food, with its supplies of kitten and puppy food already exhausted.

“We need help and two or three people can't do it alone. We appreciate those people tremendously, but they can't do it all. Please, it is critical! We have several litters of kittens and puppies. We are also completely out of all canned food. We are now in dire need of our community’s assistance,” the notice said.

Several people made promises of assistance through the Facebook page after the appeal was made, but the CCAPS shelter at 510 W. Columbia still needs food donations to rebuilt its supply.

The shelter is open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.
