Pea Festival

Most Emerson PurpleHull Pea Festival activities will take place on the grounds of Emerson High School.

Here is the schedule for the Emerson PurpleHull Pea Festival.

Friday

5:30-7 p.m. Emerson Fire Department fish fry, served at the Emerson Fire Department. Includes fish, fries and hushpuppies. Tickets on sale for $10.

6 p.m. Festival begins with the "Cranking of the Tillers" ceremony.

6:30-9:15 p.m. Entertainment, gospel music in Cafetorium.

9:15 p.m. Pea-tacular Fireworks Show begins.

Saturday

All Day, beginning at 8 a.m. Arts & Crafts

Beginning at 8 a.m. Festival's Farmers Market near Emerson School greenhouse.

All Day, beginning at 8 a.m.: Food vendors

8 a.m. Tractor Show check in

9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. PurpleHull Antique Car Show

9 a.m.-3 p.m. PurpleHull Pea Festival Quilt Show at Emerson United Methodist Church, 203 Church St.

9 a.m. Tractor Exhibitions begin

9 a.m. The Big Daddy's Hot Water Cornbread Great PurpleHull Peas & Cornbread Cook Off. Bring your best PurpleHull Peas and Cornbread dish. Have your dish there by 9 a.m. Judging begins at 9:30 a.m.

9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Silent auction in Cafetorium

10:30-11:15 a.m. The Silver Belles Dancers in Cafetorium

11-1 p.m. PurpleHull Pea Meals in Cafetorium

11 a.m. Kids Potato Pickup (for kids 12 and under - near tiller track)

11:15 a.m. World Cup PurpleHull Pea Shelling Competition

11 a.m.-6 p.m. LifeShare Bloodmobile accepting donations.

1 p.m. Million Tiller Parade..

2 p.m. Antique Car Show awards presentation.

3 p.m. The magnoliareporter.com/KZHE 200 World Championship Rotary Tiller Race.

6 p.m. The "Bad Boys Riblet Cook Off" starts serving. Plates are $10.

5-8 p.m. The Pea-Stompin' Street Dance with the Cummins Prison Band.
