Jingle Down Jackson, the Magnolia Christmas parade sponsored by the Magnolia-Columbia County Chamber of Commerce, will be Thursday, December 5.

Magnolia’s annual Christmas parade today will serve as the unofficial start of Merrytime In Magnolia, which will feature activities on Friday and Saturday.

The parade starts at 5 p.m.

The parade will organize on the streets at the intersection of Calhoun and Washington. The parade will go around the square, take a left turn on North Jackson Street, and proceed to Southern Arkansas University.

Parade winners will be announced at SAU’s Celebration of Lights, which follows the parade. CLICK HERE to read more about the Celebration of Lights.

Jingle Down Jackson prizes:

Knock Your Socks Off Award, $500. Sponsored by Greg Rich & Associates.

Christ in Christmas Award, $250. Sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

Sugar Plum Award, $250. Sponsored by At Your Service.

Merrytime in Magnolia has events set for the Magnolia Square and Square Park.

Ice skating will be set up along North Jefferson Street at Square Park from 3-7 p.m. Friday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Saturday. It is sponsored by the Albemarle Foundation and the Magnolia Advertising and Promotion Commission.

Carriage rides will be sponsored by The Barn at Two Patch on Friday, and hot chocolate will be sponsored by Warnock Furniture on Friday and Saturday.

A visit by Santa Claus will be sponsored on Saturday by Edward Jones. A magic show will be presented from 2-3 p.m. Saturday at the Albemarle Stage in Square Park, sponsored by Farmers Bank & Trust.

A gingerbread house competition will be held at SAU Beyond the Campus, 113 N. Jefferson, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to noon. Judging will start at 1 p.m. Prizes for first, second and third will be presented in the following age groups: Pre-K to second grade, third to sixth grade, seventh to 12 grade and adults 18 and older.
