Mark Keith, superintendent of the Camden Fairview School District, announced his resignation on Wednesday in a letter to district employees.
Keith cited concerns about the health of his wife among the reasons for his resignation, which will be effective Friday, January 3.
The letter noted that the couple’s 44th wedding anniversary will come in August.
“I have been in the school system for 43 years and a superintendent for 18 years. My wife has supported me all of my life in all phases of my career. This is my 6th year as superintendent of Camden Fairview School and I have thoroughly enjoyed every single day,” he wrote.
Keith praising having a supportive school board.
“Each administrator, teacher, student, and every employee of Camden Fairview School District will always have a special place in my heart.
“However, the time has come for me to focus on my family. My wife is having numerous health issues and I feel that I am needed at home. It is my turn to take care of her,” he wrote.
“This is a very sad day for me, but the time has come for me to retire,” Keith wrote.
