The Magnolia School Board held its regular meeting Monday evening.

Highlights from the meeting include:

-- Board approved policy changes related to payroll deductions.

-- Board approved updates to the salary schedule, an increase for substitute pay and minimum wage increases. Superintendent John Ward said the district was a few short of substitute teachers. There will be a substitute training on Nov. 18.

-- Approved to give salary increase as a bonus.

-- Ward said the completion of the 9th grade academy is getting close, but he doesn’t see how contractors will be finished by December. Completion will be closer to February. If that’s the case, students will not be moved in mid-semester.

Contractors are preparing to pour concrete for the Performing Arts Center.

-- Ward praised the Panther Partners program at East Side Elementary.

-- Board president Mike Waters shared that the Rotary Club had donated dictionaries to all the third-grade students.

The next meeting will be Dec. 9
