Magnolia Junior High School hosted its 2019 Science Fair on Monday.

This annual event has ninth grade students competing for category awards as well as the Overall and Runner-up Science Fair winner awards.

Students placing first, second, or third in each category are eligible to compete at the Regional Science Fair. The Regional Fair will be held on the campus of Southern Arkansas University on March 8.

The team project of Collin Kelly and Braden Fort was crowned the overall winner of the 2019 MJHS Science Fair. The ninth-grade students produced a project called, "Best Fly Trap."

The runner-up award went to Leighton Daniels, with his project, "Diabetics Beware."

Biological Science

1st – Reese Dare, Too Hot to Handle

2nd – Lilyan Willis, Organic vs. Chemical Fertilizer

3rd – Caroline Daniel, Fast vs. Slow Tree Growth

Earth and Environmental Science

1st – Nadia Walker, Plastic Wrap Absorption

2nd – Kaleb Hogue, Home-made Water Filter

3rd – Hunter Miller, What's Your Fizz-ness

Medicine and Health Science

1st – Leighton Daniels, Diabetics Beware

2nd – Marley Ford, Vitamin C in Orange Juice

3rd – Merci Bush, Acetaminophen Solubility

Physical Science

1st – Jacob Kelley, Strength of Fishing Line

2nd -- Camden Smith, Race to the Bottom

3rd – Carson Waters, Aerodynamics

Math, Engineering, and Computer Science

1st – Karley Wilkerson, Fabric Absorption

2nd -- Hannah Gunnels, Prosthetic vs Blade Running

3rd -- Dawson DeLoach, #insulate

Team Projects
